One of Reset’s goals as the Community Sponsorship Learning Hub is to continuously improve our support to Community Sponsorship groups. The advice and resources on our training website don’t appear out of thin air. They are rooted in years of learning best practice from you: the people supporting refugee families directly.
But we also want to learn from the refugees supported through Community Sponsorship, and to share their expertise with all of you so that you can learn from them too.
That’s why we’ve launched our Experts by Experience project with Community Sponsorship-resettled refugees across the UK, empowering them to co-produce resources that share their unique expertise with groups and resettled refugees in English and Arabic.
Since October 2020, three amazing individuals supported by Community Sponsorship groups around the UK have helped us to produce valuable resources for groups and the families they support. This includes resources covering perspectives on the resettlement experience, advice on volunteering, and adjusting to the British education system. Look out for a new resource on learning English coming soon!
In 2021, our training team’s goal is to incorporate refugee voice into every category of support on our training website. As we continue our work on the Experts by Experience project, please get in touch with us if you support an individual who would be interested in sharing their expertise. These are paid opportunities that can be added to CVs!

Sponsoring a refugee family is a significant responsibility. We advocate for Community Sponsors to ensure that they are properly supported throughout their journey.
Our advocacy focuses on representing the views of Community Sponsors to the Home Office to support them in implementing the necessary operational changes.
We also represent the views of Community Sponsors to other key stakeholders, including Local Authorities, international organisations, the wider resettlement field, housing providers and financial institutions. We also use our voice to campaign on policies affecting refugees. We are members of the Together With Refugees coalition, campaigning for a more humane approach to people seeking protection in the UK.
