About this training

This course will equip you with the practical knowledge needed to support families in navigating Universal Credit and avoid potential pitfalls.

One of your key tasks after the arrival of the family will involve supporting them to apply for Universal Credit. You don’t need to become an expert on the benefits system, but it’ll be helpful to know the basics and be aware of any issues that the family might encounter.

This course will equip you with the basic knowledge you need to support a family with making a claim for Universal Credit and understanding the benefits they receive.

How will this course work

​The course will be an interactive course that will be delivered online via Zoom. Pre-training material will be sent out to all those that register.

Who is this course for?

Any individual taking part in Community Sponsorship.

Aims of this course:

  • Gain a clear understanding of what Universal Credit is and who is eligible to claim it
  • Learn the process for applying for Universal Credit
  • Acquire the skills to make basic Universal Credit calculations
  • Understand common challenges and how to address them effectively
