Wars across the world are causing millions of people to flee their homes, and many spend years in refugee camps. By offering refugees safety and opportunities in the UK, we contribute to building a more compassionate, inclusive, and vibrant society for everyone.
The East Midlands has a good track record of welcoming refugees. Local volunteers have already helped 43 refugees to settle into the area through Community Sponsorship.
Community Sponsorship has the power to change community perceptions towards refugees while empowering individuals to make a tangible difference in their local area; essentially enabling refugees to rebuild their lives more effectively and become self-sufficient members of the community.
The charity Reset supports volunteers throughout the whole process – forming a group, fundraising, finding a home for a refugee family, applying to the Home Office, and helping refugees to integrate into their new community.
If you’d like to directly help refugees, come along to our public meeting 18.00-19.30 on 25 March 2025, at REACH Welcome Church, Derby, to find out how you can get involved.
Whatever your skills or experience, everyone has something they can contribute to Community Sponsorship.
Reset is proud to be partnering with East Midlands Councils Strategic Migration Partnership.
