What is Community Sponsorship?

Community Sponsorship is a government programme enabling you to welcome refugees into your local area and support them as they rebuild their lives. The scheme was set up in 2016 and is now happening all over the UK. Find out more about Community Sponsorship and how you can get involved.


What is refugee resettlement?

Resettlement is the term used to describe what happens when a refugee is moved from a host country in which they've sought asylum to a country that has the capacity to support them in the long term. Resettlement is a safe and legal route for vulnerable refugees to reach the UK. Find out more.


What is the Community Sponsorship application process?

To resettle a refugee family in your local area, you will need to form a Community Sponsorship group and submit an application to the Home Office, seeking appropriate consent from satutory services along the way. Find out more about the application process. Reset will provide you with training and guiance throughout your journey.


What does Reset do?

Reset is the UK’s Community Sponsorship training provider. All Community Sponsorship Groups must be trained by Reset in order for the Home Office to approve your application to resettle a refugee family. Our training covers your whole Community Sponsorship journey, from planning your application to working with the refugee family post-arrival.

Reset provides support and advice to Lead Sponsors, and also hosts the Lead Sponsor Network


I'm a refugee. How can I be resettled in the UK?

Refugees are selected for resettlement to the UK by the UN’s Refugee Agency (UNHCR). Reset does not have any involvement in this process. If you are seeking to be resettled in the UK, you should contact UNHCR in the country in which you’re currently residing.


Je suis un(e) réfugié(e) - est-ce que je peux être réinstallé(e) au Royaume-Uni?
