Community Sponsorship - open meeting

Event ended.

Community Sponsorship (CS) is a new way in which local community groups can take on direct responsibility for resettling a refugee family in their neighbourhood.

It is currently part of the Vulnerable Person’s Resettlement scheme (VPRS) and Vulnerable Children’s Resettlement Scheme (VCRS).

CS Groups are entirely made up of volunteers who are expected to fundraise, find housing, identify interpreters, enroll the refugees on English classes, and play the leading role in assisting them to feel welcome, orientate themselves and integrate meaningfully.

Kings Heath Action for Refugees want to become a Community Sponsor Group, we are holding an open meeting for interested members of the community to come and find out more about the scheme, and how to get involved. You don’t need to have any specific skills to get involved, we are looking for passionate, committed people who can help support.

Tim Finch, founding director of Sponsor Refugees, Saidul Haque Saeed, Lead Organiser, Citizens UK Birmingham, and other guest speakers will be there to provide us with lots of information and advice.
