What support do Community Sponsorship Groups provide to resettled refugees?

Community Sponsorship Groups make a commitment to fully support a refugee family for a year.  This includes the commitment to meet the family at the airport and provide them with a warm welcome and cultural orientation. Over the first year of the family's resettlement in the UK, Community Sponsorship groups must also:

  • support access to medical and social services
  • support access to welfare benefits
  • support English language learning
  • support access to employment

The Community Sponsorship Group must also source sustainable accommodation that will be available to the refugee family for a period of 2 years from the family's arrival in the UK.

By providing this support, Community Sponsorship Groups make an amazing difference to the experiences of refugees when they arrive in the UK. Groups ensure that being resettled in the UK means finding a new place to call home.
