Understanding Gender Based Violence and Supporting Survivors

Understanding Gender Based Violence and Supporting Survivors

There was so much in it that I found useful. It gave me lots of food for thought about supporting refugee families but also about supporting volunteers. I particularly liked the emphasis on the well being of volunteers.

About this training

This training will equip your group to understand Gender Based Violence (GBV), identify the sign and impacts and develop the confidence to support survivors. The training was developed by our internal expert on Gender Based Violence.

GBV can be a reason for refugees to leave their countries of origin, and a reality of forced migration and the host country context. Women and girls are overall more vulnerable to the GBV during conflict and by smugglers, authorities or isolated individuals, in their country of origin, during forced migration, or in the host country. Developing an understanding of GBV can add value to the support you provide.
